Software Engineer

We're currently looking to add talented engineers to our team. We use a lot of different technologies (Python, Numpy/Scipy, Django, Java, Postgres, AWS, ...) and a background in statistical modeling and/or processing big data (especially geographical data) is helpful, however we care more about what you can learn than what you know.

We're a small team, so you’ll make a difference immediately and solve problems no one has had to figure out before.

Data Scientist

Are you intellectually curious and have an interest in harnessing novel technologies to help consumer packaged goods manufacturers better understand their shoppers? As a Data Scientist at Locately, you will work at the forefront of the emerging field of location analytics, analyzing location data and survey responses and developing novel algorithms to generate meaningful intelligence that gives our clients a competitive edge.

We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative Data Scientist with strong interpersonal skills to play an integral role in developing the next generation of algorithms and reporting analytics to produce the actionable shopper insights we deliver to our clients. As a Data Scientist, you will creatively utilize data mining and statistical signal processing techniques to mine our rich datasets, conduct statistical analyses, develop algorithms, deliver reporting outputs, and collaboratively generate recommendations based on your findings in support of high-impact, actionable deliverables.


Requirements:

  • A Masters degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, or behavioral / social science
  • A minimum 2 years work experience as a Data Scientist or Research Analyst. Experience in Consumer Insights or Shopper Insights is preferred.
  • Experience with data mining techniques and algorithms, e.g. decision trees, clustering, support vector machines, naïve bayes
  • Experience with statistical signal processing techniques, e.g. Wiener filters, Kalman filters, maximum likelihood estimation, hidden Markov models
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in statistics, including descriptives, crosstabs, parametric and non-parametric tests, linear regression, logistic regression, factor analysis, and survival analysis
  • Experience with Python, R, and SPSS is preferred

Research Analyst

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented Research Analyst with strong interpersonal skills to play an integral role in developing the actionable shopper insights we deliver to our clients to give them a competitive edge. As a Research Analyst, you will creatively mine our rich datasets, conduct statistical analyses, deliver reporting outputs, and collaboratively generate recommendations based on your findings in support of high-impact, actionable deliverables.


Requirements:

  • A Master’s degree in behavioral/social science, statistics or business with an emphasis on statistics and research methods
  • A minimum 2 years work experience as a Research Analyst in Consumer Insights or Shopper Insights. Experience in the CPG industry is highly preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in statistics, including descriptives, crosstabs, parametric and non-parametric tests, linear regression, logistic regression, factor analysis, and survival analysis
  • Experience generating professional slide decks in PPT
  • Experience with SPSS, Python, and R is preferred

Project Manager

We are seeking an outgoing and creative Consulting Project Manager to serve as the main contact for CPG clients who rely on us to gather data with a cutting-edge, app-based methodology, reveal actionable insights and drive profitable change. You will manage multiple shopper insights projects for Fortune 50 companies, advise clients with business-changing recommendations, build strong client relationships, and help evolve our distinctive product offerings.

You will monitor the project “big picture” while managing the details necessary to keep your projects moving forward. You will establish a research agenda for your clients, coordinate research efforts, develop insights and actionable presentation content, and deliver presentations to executives and insights professionals. You will also monitor project deliverable quality, align internal resources to meet project objectives, ensure that deliverables are on time or early, and monitor project financials. As the product offering evolves you will provide input on both short and long-term strategy. You may occasionally be asked to play a support role on sales calls.


Requirements:

As a Project Manager, you must possess exceptional time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills as well as superb communication and people skills. Our ideal Project Manager is a detail-oriented team player who can hit the ground running, enjoys looking for the “story” in the data, knows when to tap relevant resources for needed information and can build strong relationships with clients they only see in person a few times per year. You must also have superb analytical and presentation skills and be willing to ask questions to do things right the first time.


Additional Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in Business, Marketing or Communications a plus
  • Minimum 4 years experience working on multiple projects at once, including vendor-side work, CPG, retail and/or restaurant client/account management and/or information/data management required; consulting experience a plus
  • Ability to analyze data and translate numbers into concrete consultative advice
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willingness and availability to travel 10-15% of the time
  • Experience building relationships with C-level clients a plus
